The p:ear barista school (pbs) is a collaboration between p:ear and Caffe Vita Coffee Roasting Co to create an on-site barista training program. The program is an in-depth eight week training exploring all aspects becoming a barista in today's competitive market - from understanding bean sourcing, to milk textures, to customer service and basic money management, p:ear youth leave the program well suited to move into a 3 month paid internship at our on-site coffee cart. This extended time allows youth to build their confidence and their resumes, and provides consistent, on-going mentorship while youth engage in the activities associated with learning the science and art of preparing and serving coffee, as well as management of a functioning coffee cart.
