Both p:ear youth and its art program are featured in the latest issue of
Uncensored, a magazine published by the Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness. The article "Creating Stability: Homeless children find confidence, trust and expression through arts programs," illustrates the work of several arts programs around the country that target homeless youth including
Sanctuary up in Seattle. p:ear program director Pippa Arend spoke to
Uncensored about the about the role the art program plays in the lives of p:ear youth:
“The art is great and important, but our real goal is for these kids to develop personal relationships with others, because from that place they can move forward and mature,” she says. “Art and recreation and education are just tools for our secret mission, which is to create trust and a sense of hope for these kids."
